Installer training

Learn to install subsurface irrigation

We are looking for people who want to learn how to bring water under existing lawns, in their own area. It's fine if you already work with gardens, and it's fine if you're starting from scratch.

Why

A trade that didn't exist before

Summers are getting drier and water costs more. People with gardens want to keep them green without wasting water, and subsurface irrigation does exactly that: the water goes to the roots, not into the air. It saves up to 70%.

The catch was that, until now, installing it meant redoing the lawn. With SUBGarden's patented machine the drip lines go under the turf without digging. That opens up every existing garden, which is most of them.

We can't handle every request on our own, and this work needs to be done close to home. So we're building a network of installers, each in their own area: people trained by us, using our technology, with us beside them.

Who it's for

You don't need to be a gardener

You need to want to learn an outdoor job that's precise and done properly. We'll teach you the rest.

  • 01

    Gardeners and landscaping firms

Add a service your clients already ask for, in the gardens you look after. You sell it and install it yourself, without redoing lawns.

  • 02

    People in a related trade

Plumbers, installers, people working in farming or construction: you already have the hands-on skills and know pipes and pressure. You learn the installation and the rest of the system.

  • 03

    People starting from scratch

If you're looking for a new job, you can train and work alongside the landscaping firms in your area, which often have nobody who knows how to build these systems.

The training

What you learn

  • How subsurface irrigation works: water rising to the roots by capillary action, and why the lawn stays dry on top.
  • How to read a garden: soil, slopes, available water, sunny and shady areas.
  • How to design the system: the grid of drip lines, the zones, the valves and the controller.
  • How to install with the patented machine without tearing up the lawn, and how to reuse the lines of an old system.
  • How to maintain it: flushing, line cleaning and seasonal checks, without touching the garden.

What we give you

  • The basic training to design and install the systems.
  • SUBGarden technology and the installation machine: it isn't sold on its own, it's entrusted to those who join the network.
  • Support designing your first systems.
  • Our assistance while you work, until you're independent.

Questions

What people ask us most

  • Do I need gardening experience?

No. If you already work with gardens you have a head start, but the training is also designed for people who have never done it. Those starting from scratch usually begin by working alongside a landscaping firm in their area.

  • Do I have to buy the installation machine?

No. The machine is patented and isn't sold on its own: SUBGarden technology is entrusted to those who join the installer network, together with training and assistance.

  • Can I work with my own landscaping firm?

Yes. Subsurface irrigation becomes an extra service for your clients: you install it in the gardens you already look after, without redoing the lawn, and then handle its maintenance.

  • Where would I work?

In your own area. The idea is to have installers spread across the territory, each close to their clients. We started in Tuscany and the patent is Italian; we're working to extend it to Europe.

  • How long is the training and how much does it cost?

It depends on where you're starting from: someone with a landscaping firm needs less time than someone starting from scratch. We tell you when we talk, before you commit to anything.

  • Am I on my own after the training?

No. You design and build your first systems with our support, and assistance continues afterwards. We don't want installers left to fend for themselves: a badly built system hurts everyone.
